New Smaller-Scaled Furniture

April 10th, 2012 by admin

A decade ago when people were splurging on bigger homes, huge rooms and enormous pieces of furniture were in style. Now, furniture shoppers are demanding smaller sizes as people downsize, tire of excess, or retire to smaller homes. New York lofts, beach bungalows; or a townhouse in San Francisco, many living spaces are smaller than suburban homes. Regardless of the size of your place though, there is no reason to trade in style just because you have a small home.

Years ago, the only smaller scaled furniture was basically, the kind of furniture college kids have in dorms. There was no style, no trend-factor; nothing noteworthy. It seemed as if small furniture meant scaling back on quality too. If you wanted small furniture, it meant having few choices of fabric. Style, design, classy, quality, trendy, stunning…none of those words would apply to small furniture in days past.

Many furniture and home design and décor stores now have collections for small spaces. One prominent and popular upscale furniture maker has literally redesigned and scaled down part of their gorgeous furniture and accessory collection. Now, the person that could never have their furniture because of it being too big for their homes, has a whole new shopping experience awaiting them.

More furniture makers are producing modular styles, where you can buy the seating arrangement you need; can place as many or as few together to get the desired length of seating you want. Normally, couches come in 6-8 foot lengths. Five-foot loveseats could be available, but if you need a couch in any other length, good luck! Now, you have many options. Dining tables are mostly 6 or 8 foot. You might find a smaller one, but odds are it will look “kitchen”. Nowadays you can find smaller classy tables for eating and entertaining, without losing style.

Depth is a new design focus for smaller-scaled furniture. A traditional sofa depth is about 37″. A deep sofa may be 42″. Now, you can order sofas with a 28″ depth, saving even more room for other furnishings or walking paths in your living and family room.

Finding the right website to get reliable information about discount hot tubs for sale davenport was just made easy for you.

Get Creative and Go Green with Eco-Friendly Furniture

March 6th, 2012 by admin

Tree farms supply the demand for wood furniture, but trees take some years to grow, so new supply sources are continually being explored. Soon, wood will be at premium. Instead, buy furniture made of eco-friendly building materials are friendly to the environment. Some woods are easier to grow and reseed, but notice what you’re buying.

Eco-friendly furniture is defined as furniture that doesn’t drain the environment. It is defined as using materials that are sustainable or are recyclable. Eco-friendly means less of a carbon footprint; where manufacturing processes aren’t excessive. Packaging adds to tons of plastics heading to landfills every year. Ineffective delivery adds to millions of miles of carbon emissions polluting the air.

Eco-friendly furniture is furniture that is made from handy materials. It is made from fast growing trees and plants like bamboo, so that supply sources aren’t diminished. It is furniture that is made from all the things that we’ve used and thrown away. Take a look at artisan works of tables made from tires, barn boards, recycled tiles and more. Eco-friendly furniture typically involves cleaner lines so that less is involved in manufacturing. Green furniture also means that little or no chemicals are added to treatments and finishes, making for a more pollutant and toxin free home.

Cast-off cardboard is hip and trendy now; some designers are showing gallery-level pieces created from this unusual material. When these chairs are finished, they look like suede. Go figure! Ecological material like recycled plastic that looks like wood is an low-cost green solution to traditional woods. Recycled metals from shipping crates, railroads, shuttered manufacturing plants, rusty fencing, timeworn barn wood, recycled tires, and recycled cardboard…all of these are just a few options when furniture is sustainable.

Check your local want adds…someone’s old furniture could be just what you want and you’d be doing your part. Search “green furniture” or “eco-friendly” furniture. Create your own furniture using recycled materials in innovative ways. Check into eco-friendly furnishings. Locate dealers and artists by heading online. Add your zip code to find local dealers, so you do your part by not adding emissions to the air with a ton of driving. Shop online first.

You no longer have to spend hours finding info about factory direct hot tubs.
